Urbane Summer

“Clothes aern’t going to change the world, the women who wear them will.”

Well Mimosa Girls, it’s safe to say it’s been a while. You know what they say, life is what happens when you’re busy making plans. Since we’ve chatted I’ve graduated college, landed a job as the Brand Coordinator for an ad agency, and been going about life. Oh I also recently re-discovered twitter, so that’s cool too (feel free to tweet me @csinicropi). But, none of that matters right at this second. You come here for the fashion, or at least I hope you do!

This post is long overdue! This outfit is light, easy, and totally summer-tastic. When it comes to the heat (and trust me I know heat) there is no beating it, as cute a phrase as that may be. When you live in the South, where temperatures average out at 102 and humidity is at a glorious 98%, you can only do your best to stay cool.

I went with breathable, lightweight fabrics that still carry my signature, updated classic style, combined with a touch of on-trend pieces. I chose a white, silk shirt (from Nasty Gal), which has this soft drapey fold in the front. I love the architectural element this shirt possesses. I paired the shirt with a pair of lightweight printed shorts, loving the contrast of the structure with the fun, flounce of the shorts (from Forever21).

For accessories I added my absolute favorite pair of shoes, a chunky platform heel, and a stack of jewelry from Rocksbox, which is an absolutely amazing service ( I am totally addicted and highly recommend checking them out). I’m also wearing a stacked bar necklace from Rocksbox, along with a pair of dangly earrings, a House of Harlow bangle, my Movado watch, and a few braclets from Cara.

I needed this outfit to transition from romping around downtown, to a nice dinner out. I grabbed my oversized denim jacket (thanks Zara) and slung it over my shoulders. I’m petite and rather narrow on top, so throwing this jacket over my shoulders adds width to balance out my backside (holla at yah girl).

And, I’m sure you can tell by now, I swear by oversized sunglasses. My sunglass collection is a little obsessive. I absolutely love changing up my sunnies. Accessories are the easiest way to change up outfits and previously worn pieces, so I always make sure to invest in quality accessories. I want them to last, and it saves money in the long run!

Well Mimosa Girls, that’s a wrap for this Sunday! Hope you’ve had a great weekend, and I promise I’ve got a lot more in the works! See you back in a week!

XOXO
