“Real style is never right or wrong. It’s a matter of being yourself on purpose.”
— G. Bruce Boyer
Spring came and went here in the south. I mean c’mon, it’s about to be 90 degrees this Friday. If you’re not located here in the southeast, count your blessings that the humidity hasn’t hit. Because it’s practically makeup melting already.
If you’ve followed me, you know my typical uniform consists of a blazer, a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt. But with the summer heat already blazing its way into May, I’ve had to update that uniform for something a little cooler. I’ve been living in midi-skirts and t-shirts lately, and I am obsessed!
A midi skirt is a piece I love because it works on all body types. Tall? It’s perfect. Short? Me too, it won’t cut you off. I also love this midi skirt because of the wrap detail around the middle. It hits higher than my natural waist, which helps to define the smallest part of my body. If you’re looking for a slimming illusion, always belt or add an accent at your narrowest point, which is generally above your hips!

Because so much of this outfit is neutral, I added a pop of red (a complimentary color) to spice it up. The bag has pom poms to give a bit of texture to the outfit. I also went with gold jewelry and a contrasting stripe for the shoe. Because both the skirt and shoe share a pattern, I can get away with mixing the color of the stripes! You can always pair like patterns together for an interesting, layered look.
